About This Edition

The report that started it all.

The 2022 Annual Utility Decarbonization Report was the first of its kind: a comprehensive, data-driven ranking of U.S. investor-owned utilities on their progress toward net zero. Produced in collaboration with Visual Capitalist, it established the methodology and scoring benchmarks that every edition since has built on. The central argument remains as relevant today as it was when the report launched: electric utilities are the industry best positioned to lead the clean energy transition at economy-wide scale.
