Our story
Who we are
Motive Power was founded in 2005 by Angel Lance with a straightforward goal: deliver solutions that people can actually use. What started as a small team focused on project management and consulting has grown into a firm of 70 Impactors working across utilities, capital infrastructure, clean energy, organizational consulting, data innovation, and AI integration.
The ambition has grown, but the approach hasn't changed: listen first, stay close to the work, and deliver outcomes that hold up long after the engagement ends.
20 years of hands-on work, with deep roots in utility relationships, capital programs, and sustainability.
70 Impactors spanning project management, consulting, data innovation, and clean energy.
Grown by following our clients' needs, not chasing trends.

Committed to clients, focused on results
We earn trust by showing up, doing the work, and delivering outcomes.
For over two decades, we’ve partnered with utilities, developers, and technology companies across the country to deliver projects that matter.
What drives us every day
Our core values guide how we work, how we partner with clients, and how we show up as a team. They’re not words on a wall. They’re how we hire, how we deliver, and how we hold each other accountable.
Impact Beyond Our Work
Our work doesn't stop at client delivery. The Gulch Environmental Foundation and NPUC are part of the Motive Power family of companies, each driving impact beyond the engagement.
Through the Gulch, we operate Rainmaker Farm, a regenerative agriculture project in Oklahoma focused on carbon sequestration and sustainable farming.
Through NPUC, we bring utility leaders together through research, benchmarking, and an annual forum during New York Climate Week.
These aren't side projects. They're central to who we are and how we show up in the world.
