Manager – Health & Life Sciences, Utilities, Technology, Transportation, or Construction

The Manager is a highly capable consultant accountable for business and service development for Motive Power. The manager takes responsibility for running parts of the business, such as client accounts, service development and sales development.  This position requires 10+ years of industry specific experience and skills in managing multi-million dollar, cross-functional, multi-location project teams using plan-based and/or cutting-edge project management methodologies. The Manager must demonstrate expertise in project management. They interact regularly with clients to set expectations, plan activities, and report progress. They direct the day-to-day activities of team members and review all deliverables to ensure they are complete and of appropriate quality. Successful delivery requires managing engagement financials, and Managers drive teams to meet utilization and revenue goals. Managers must be able to expand business through networking and selling into the specific industry.

Manager activities include and are not limited to:

  • Take responsibility for managing engagements through recruiting, mentoring, coaching, training, and client relationship management
  • Aid in the expansion of business through networking and selling into new industries, clients, and services
  • Manage and lead project status meetings; maintain project documentation
  • Manage information and data within various software and databases
  • Arbitrate and resolve conflicts within the project; mentor and provide guidance to less experienced team members
  • Develop and define project scope and objectives with input from project stakeholders
  • Report to Motive Power Leadership with timely and actionable updates
  • Report to Core and Extended Team members ensuring all applicable cross-functional personnel are up-to-date on project lifecycle status and their responsibilities
  • Negotiate third party contracts when appropriate
  • Manage integration of vendor tasks; track and review vendor deliverables
  • Assess project risk and formulate mitigation and contingency plans; continually manage risk and issue resolution
  • Provide timely and accurate project status reports and other project tracking and communications to management and team members

Minimum Requirements:

  • 10 years relevant industry-specific project management work experience
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies and best practices
  • PMI certified PMP, or similar certification
  • Strong communication skills, verbal and written, and the established ability to collaborate with a variety of people in various roles with different leadership styles
  • Strong interpersonal, influence, and consulting skills
  • Demonstrated success working in a fast-paced, project-centric environment
  • Understanding of project management and business processes and systems
  • Strong organizational, critical thinking, and analytical skills
  • Experience developing, enhancing, and implementing processes and tools and/or developing process documentation 
  • Experience in change management or organizational development projects
  • Experience developing, enhancing, and implementing processes and tools and/or developing process documentation
  • Ability to develop, maintain, and analyze project cost information including budgets, forecasts, actual cost tracking, and variance reporting
  • Ability to facilitate meetings including preparation of agendas, presentations, meeting minutes, action items, and other meeting documentation
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio)
  • Advanced analytics and data manipulation skills in MS Excel
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Project, or other scheduling software including use of dependencies, cost loading, resource loading, resource leveling
  • Proven success building business relationships and identifying new business opportunities

Preferred Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, engineering, or related field
  • Intermediate level: At least 10 years of professional services experience
  • Microsoft Project certification
  • Advanced analytics and data manipulation skills in MS Excel
